Don't Have Any Room For A Traditional Garden?

There are many of us who would like to have a garden to grow flowers, food or plants but simply do not have the room on our SW Florida lots! While surfing the internet for ideas on container gardens, I stumbled upon the website for Woolly Pocket. Here is their story!

Woolly Pocket was founded in 2008 by brothers Miguel & Rodney Nelson.Pockets were first invented out of a personal need for a simple, DIY-consumer friendly system for gardening vertically, not yet available on the market. With Miguel’s background as a sculptor and Rodney’s background in manufacturing, they invented the breathable Woolly Pockets with internal moisture control that are made from recycled plastic bottles in USA. Now, the Nelson brothers are turning the gardening industry down side up. And the Woolly Pocket family is also helping millions of students learn nutrition and gardening through their Woolly School Garden program by creating a living garden classroom for students K–12.

Over the past few years, the Woolly family has grown to include a passionate team of plant-minded folk working from Los Angeles and Phoenix in earth-friendly offices collaborating to inspire the world to have more fun with plants!

Here is how they work!

The Importance of Regular Lawn Mowing

According to www.readytomowllc.wordpress.com, there are two major purposes that are served by mowing your lawn regularly. First, the cosmetic benefits can be noticed immediately. A properly cut lawn is something that is very nice to see. Mowing the lawn on a regular basis helps keep the grass short, neat and even. It also gives your lawn a very well manicured and orderly appearance. Many people consider it to be a matter of pride when it comes to the way that their yard looks; so tending to it in this fashion brings satisfaction.

The other benefit that comes with mowing the lawn on a regular basis may not be as immediately obvious, but it is just as important.  Mowing the lawn helps keep your lawn healthy and eliminate some of the pests from the grass at the same time. There are also health benefits that come from regular mowing.

The first health benefit that is achieved is the way that the grass grows. In a yard, resources are absorbed by the grass and used to grow.  By slicing the growth down to a short and uniform level on a regular basis, all of the growth gets an equal distribution of resources. Due to this fact, mowing on a regular basis will allow the lawn to remain consistent in nature, because all of the resources that are gained from the sun and water are spread out evenly throughout the yard. Consistency is important to both health and appearance, so making sure that resources are evenly distributed is very important.

The next health benefit comes with the concept of reinforcement and improvement over time. When the grass is cut, the hardiest and the healthiest shoots are the ones that do the best.  With every cut, the best shoots will proliferate making the grass much more visible in nature overall.

The last health benefit is that the fallen shoots of grass will help to fertilize the lawn. Even if a person is bagging when they are going through the process, some of the extra debris from the act will be returned to the earth.  This plant matter composts quickly and revitalizes the soil underneath it. In this way, mowing helps to keep everything fresh and green!

We all know that keeping your lawn mowed not only makes your landscape look more attractive, but also helps to improve the health of your lawn! However, regular mowing, in this hot Florida sun, can be a tiring, time consuming ordeal! Call ProMo Lawn Care to keep your lawn attractive and healthy!

The Real Cost of Maintaining Your Own Lawn

Do you maintain your own lawn? Have you ever thought about how much it really costs you to do it yourself? Gas prices, lawn equipment purchase and maintenance, as well as your time and energy. It all adds up!

Gas prices in SW Florida are averaging 3.370 per gallon, and most lawn tractors hold about 4 gallons of gas. So, depending on the size of your lawn, it could cost you up to 13.48 to mow it each week! Not to mention the gas you use to drive to the gas station and fill up your 5 gallon containers!

Lawn tractors can set you back an average of 1500. If you pay cash for your mower, you could come out ahead after about 2 years. However, if you charge it, the interest could spread those payments out over 5 years! Keep in mind that is ignoring maintenance, time spent mowing, and gas! Don't forget that you also have to house it, and when you think about real estate costs you begin to realize that floor space (even in a garage) isn’t free.

At ProMo Lawn Care, we’ve done the math. After buying your own equipment and mowing and maintaining your own lawn, you save about $13 every time you cut, trim, edge and blow your own yard. If that takes you 2.5 hours, you’re making less than $5 an hour. Isn’t your relaxation and down time worth more than that? Sell your lawn equipment, clear up all that space and let us make your lawn beautiful! Our lawn service prices make doing it yourself a waste of your valuable time.
